We would like to thank Congressman Dave Reichert for his continued interest in Border Security. During the pay reform process, the Local developed a good relationship with the Congressman which lead to him co-sponsoring our legislation. We were further pleased when he reached out to us for a border tour.
The Congressman, along with staff members Zack and Sue, traveled up from Issaquah to better understand the challenges we face along our Northern border. President Cox and VP Romero took the team on a tour from Sumas to the Peace Arch. They got to see first hand the diverse landscape along the border and understand what difficulty or ease an intruder would face when entering our Country illegally. We shared our ideas on detection and apprehension, along with our wish list of items that would help us. We also visited with a local family that lives on the border who graciously shared their views regarding us and our mission with the Congressman. I am happy to say everything said was positive!
The Congressman expressed a deep appreciation for the men and women in uniform and the job that we undertake daily. We were equally appreciative of his effort to reach out to us so that he may get a first person account of what the boots on the ground face daily.
Thank you Congressman. It was an honor spending the day with you all!
